Delfin Amazon Cruises | Luxury Amazon Cruises Experience

THE DELFIN
DIFFERENCE

Sustainability and regenerative travel

At Delfin, our connection to the Amazon is more than a responsibility—it is a calling. As the first luxury cruise operator in the region and the only Peruvian-owned company of its kind, we see ourselves as custodians of this extraordinary ecosystem.

Regenerative Travel: A Commitment to the Amazon’s Future

Our founders, Aldo Macchiavello and Lissy Urteaga, built Delfin with a mission that goes beyond travel: to create a model of regenerative tourism that directly benefits the land, wildlife, and people of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Every journey we offer is designed to give back more than it takes, ensuring that the Amazon not only survives but thrives for generations to come.

Empowering Communities, Preserving Traditions

From the very beginning, Delfin has worked hand in hand with Amazonian communities. Lissy ventured deep into the reserve alongside our first guide, Adonay, forging relationships with local artisans. Their intricate handcrafts, often depicting local wildlife, are displayed onboard as part of our interior design—an invitation for guests to visit their villages and purchase directly. This approach ensures that economic opportunities remain within the communities, fostering independence, pride, and a sustainable source of income beyond the seasonal cycles of the forest.

The Artisans and Communities of the Amazon

Lissy’s dedication to empowering these women has led to the creation of over eight artisan markets within the reserve, where the “butterflies of Yarapa” now proudly showcase their work. This initiative has safeguarded a tradition once at risk of disappearing, allowing these women to support their families and pass down their skills for generations to come. Beyond artisan programs, our partnerships with local communities have meant that Delfin now directly supports over 1,400 people across 14 communities, ensuring that regenerative travel is not just an idea but a tangible force for change.

Conservation in Action

Our vessels are designed to leave zero waste in the river, our naturalist guides are dedicated to environmental education, and we continuously invest in energy-efficient innovations. We distribute reusable water bottles and straws, use eco-friendly materials for décor, and source our produce from organic local farms whenever possible. But our conservation efforts extend far beyond responsible cruising.

Sustainable Jungle Trails

In partnership with a highland community, Delfin developed a year-round jungle trail, providing a sustainable livelihood for local men who maintain the paths and serve as guides. This collaboration not only preserves an essential connection between travelers and the rainforest but also creates meaningful employment and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
